Definition
Proxy Detection identifies when your device or network traffic is routed through a proxy intermediary server instead of directly connecting to the internet.
Many apps monitor proxy usage because proxies can:
- Hide the real IP address
- Alter or inspect network traffic
- Route data through unknown or untrusted servers
- Create anonymized or high-risk network conditions
Security Implications of Proxy
- Apps may block critical features when a proxy is detected to prevent identity spoofing and data manipulation.
- Proxies are commonly used in fraud, bot attacks, and scraping activities.
- Financial and enterprise apps rely on direct network verification to ensure secure transactions.
- Malicious or public proxies can expose your data to logging, interception, or tampering.
How To Disable Proxy?
If an app flags proxy usage, you can disable it using the steps below:
Android Option 1: Disable Proxy via Wi-Fi Settings
- Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi / Internet
- Long-press the connected network -> Tap Modify Network
- Open Advanced Options -> Proxy
- Select None -> Save
iOS Option 1: Disable Proxy via Wi-Fi Settings
- Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi
- Tap the (i) icon next to the connected network
- Scroll to HTTP Proxy
- Select Off
Once the proxy is turned off, reopen the app and continue normal usage.
