ADB Wireless/USB Debugging

Definition

ADB Wireless/USB Debugging enables a device to communicate with a computer or remote host using the Android Debug Bridge (ADB). When enabled, it provides broad access to system-level functions, including:

  • command execution
  • data extraction and
  • app manipulation.

Security Implications

ADB Wireless/USB Debugging:

  • Allows unauthorized systems or attackers to access the device if USB or wireless pairing is compromised.
  • Enables installation, modification, or removal of applications without user consent.
  • Can expose sensitive application data through debugging commands.
  • Acts as an entry point for malware or exploitation tools seeking elevated privileges.
