Definition​

Keylogging Prevention protects against malicious tools or apps that capture user keystrokes on a device. These tools can record sensitive inputs such as passwords, OTPs, banking details, and personal messages without the user’s knowledge.

Security Implications​

If keylogging occurs on a device, attackers may be able to:

  • Steal login credentials such as usernames and passwords.
  • Capture OTPs and bypass multi-factor authentication.
  • Access sensitive personal or financial information.
  • Take over user accounts or perform fraudulent transactions.
  • Monitor user activity without consent. This makes keylogging a serious security threat, especially for financial and sensitive applications.

How To Prevent Keylogging​

Step 1: Avoid Installing Unknown Apps​

Install apps only from trusted sources like Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 2: Check App Permissions​

Review permissions carefully, especially Accessibility and Input-related permissions.

Step 3: Disable Suspicious Accessibility Services​

Go to Settings -> Accessibility. Turn off access for apps that do not require it.

Step 4: Avoid Using Third-Party Keyboards​

Use only trusted and well-known keyboard apps.

Step 5: Keep Your Device Updated​

Install regular OS and security updates.

Step 6: Avoid Rooted or Jailbroken Devices​

Do not use devices that are modified or compromised.

Step 7: Use Built-in Security Features​

Enable features like Google Play Protect or similar security services.

Step 8: Monitor Unusual Behavior​

Be alert if your device shows unexpected pop-ups, slow performance, or unknown activity.
